Test method for analysis of water miscibility in Methanol

Scope
Determine the water miscibility of the methanol sample.

Procedure
1:19 at 20 Deg. C: Take 5 ml sample in measuring cylinder and add 95 ml distilled water mix and keep in temperature at 20⁰C for 1/2 hours and compare wit distilled water. It should not be turbid or have cloudiness. If sample colour shows clear, then the sample passes the test.

1:1 at Room Temp.: Take 50 ml sample + 50 ml distilled water mix and observe opalescence at room temperature. It should be clear colorless - then the sample passes.

Report
Sample passes the test, if the methanol water mixture is as free from cloudiness or turbidity as the blank. If any cloudiness or turbidity is detected after 30 minutes, sample fails the test.
